Akon’s Wife of 28 Years Files for Divorce … Days Before Milestone

Akon’s wife is pulling the plug on their nearly 3-decade-long marriage — filing for divorce just 4 days before what would’ve been their 29th wedding anniversary.

According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, Tomeka Thiam filed the paperwork this week … citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Akon and Tomeka tied the knot back on September 15, 1996, and share a 17-year-old child. Tomeka is asking for joint legal custody but wants primary physical custody. She also wants spousal support and doesn’t want Akon to get any in return .

The timing is wild … they were just days away from hitting the 29-year mark.

We’ve reached out to Akon’s camp for comment … so far, no word back.
