Young Thug Returns With Bold Statement on New Album UY Scuti
Atlanta, GA — September 26, 2025 — Nearly a year after regaining his freedom, Young Thug has delivered one of the most anticipated projects of his career. On Friday (Sept. 26), the YSL rapper released UY Scuti, his first studio album since being released from jail in October 2024.
The title, inspired by one of the largest known stars in the universe, reflects Thug’s belief in his stature within hip-hop. “I just feel big, you know. The name of my album UY Scuti. I feel like I’m one of the biggest stars,” Thug told GQ earlier this year. “I did a lot. Founding this culture. The new rap game that’s happening right now. I’m out of this world. Not like God, though.”
Singles and Build-Up
The rollout for UY Scuti began in April with “Money on Money,” a trap-heavy anthem featuring Future. Earlier this month, Thug shared the heartfelt single “Miss My Dogs,” where he opened up about personal relationships and extended apologies to some of hip-hop’s biggest names, including Drake, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, Future, Lil Baby, and his longtime partner Mariah the Scientist.
Delayed but Strategic
The project faced several delays, with rumors of May and June release dates that ultimately shifted. Thug eventually landed on Sept. 26, a week after Cardi B’s Am I the Drama? dropped. The rapper publicly explained the decision as one of respect: “Yall know I wasn’t dropping Friday. It’s a ladies day,” he wrote on X. Cardi responded with encouragement, telling him, “You better step next week … you got this.”
Life After Jail
UY Scuti arrives after turbulent years for Thug, who was incarcerated during the release of his last album, Business Is Business, in June 2023. That project still soared to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, proving his cultural weight even behind bars.
Since his release, Thug has gradually re-entered the public eye. In August, he appeared at a back-to-school charity event in Atlanta, and earlier this week, he was spotted supporting producer Metro Boomin at a federal courthouse in Los Angeles.
A Bigger-Than-Life Return
For Thug, UY Scuti is more than just a comeback album — it’s a statement of resilience and dominance. With themes of loyalty, legacy, and reinvention woven through the tracklist, the project solidifies his role in shaping modern rap.
